The Benefits of Music Instruction

Piano courses are an excellent way to learn about music, but did you know that music courses can also have other benefits?

Music promotes relaxation, whether it is as a practitioner or an active listener; it is an excellent outlet for children and adults alike.

What are the benefits of my piano program for children?

1. Early musical training helps develop brain areas involved in language and reasoning.

2. Students of the arts learn to think creatively and to solve problems by imagining various solutions, rejecting outdated rules and assumptions. In the arts, questions do not have to have only one right answer.

3. A study of the arts provides children with an internal glimpse of other cultures and teaches them to be empathetic towards the people of these cultures. Cultural Arts in Education leads to respect of other cultures and traditions at an early age.

4. Students of music learn to stretch their inner resources in order to achieve a new level of excellence.

5. Through music study, students learn the value of effort and dedication to achieve excellence and the concrete rewards of hard work.

6. Music provides children with a means of self-expression. Self-esteem is a bi-product of this self-expression.

7. Music performance teaches young people to conquer fear and to take risks. It teaches children how to deal with anxiety at an early age which makes it less of a problem later on in life.

Adults also benefit from classes by learning to reduce stress from the office through music. It is common for my adult students to come directly from their jobs to their piano classes, they say that though the piano may be a challenge at times, it is still rewarding in what they are able to personally obtain from the classes.

Each piano class is individually designed to meet the needs of the student, so there is never the need to worry of being pushed in a direction that you might not be prepared.
