Revisiting Music as Medicine

Published on CNN.com a few months ago, there was written a beautiful story about the power of music and how it has the ability to communicate on a deeper level where words are limited.

Robert Gupta, a pre-med student, who was on his way to a successful career in medicine, realized that his path for healing lay in music. Robert states, "For me, music is about joy -- the complete release of emotion, exhilaration and all-encompassing freedom. It's so easy for us, especially as classical musicians who lock ourselves away from the world for hours at a time to perfect our craft, to forget that this music is really about others. It's about conveying a message. “And it is true, as musicians, we sometimes forget that music can be a great tool for communicating not only our thoughts as emotions but also those of the active participants.
